An Investor from Poland Will Plant Apple Orchards in 2019
The timeline for implementing an investment project of planting the Orchards in the Smolensk Region has been discussed at the Investment Development Corporation of the Smolensk Region; the project involves planting of several types of apple trees, mainly from Poland, at an area of 45 hectares using an intensive horticulture technology, which will provide high yield and quality of the apples grown. The project is implemented by Soyuz company, involving Polish investors.

According to the Investment Development Corporation of the Smolensk Region, the total investments in the project will reach approximately 160 million rubles. The project will be implemented at two sites in the Smolensk Region: the first site, provided by the Administration of the Smolensk Region, consists of the land plots with a total area of 60 hectares which are located near the bypass road, the second site includes the investor's own land with a total area of 40 hectares near Syr-Lipki village. The first seedlings are expected to be planted in spring 2019.

At the moment, Soyuz company has acquired an industrial land plot to build a controlled atmosphere storage for keeping 2,000 tons of fruits. The storage designing will be performed along with planting of the first seedlings in 2019 in order to have the project implemented by the time of the first crop.
