Localization of Flax Harvesters’ Production From France Will Reach 50% in the Smolensk Region

During the first All-Russian Flax Field Day Alexey Ostrovsky, Governor of the Smolensk Region, reported that the French investors are going to locate a machinery production facility at Vyazma Machine-Building Plant JSC.

It is expected that a French company DEHONDT TECHNOLOGIES DEVELOPPEMENT will enhance its degree of localization up to 50% for the flax harvesting machinery to be produced at the Vyazma machine-building plant in the Smolensk Region.

Within the framework of this agreement the investors from France are supposed to locate their industrial complex based on Vyazma Machine-Building Plant JSC to produce flax harvesting machines and equipment used for primary processing of long-fibre flax. It is worth noting that the company has already registered a representative office in Russia. Besides, localization of flax pullers’ production is expected to reach nearly 15% this year and 50% by 2021,” Alexey Ostrovsky noted.

It should be recalled that the corresponding agreement has been signed between the Administration of the Smolensk Region and a French group of companies DEHONDT Technologies Développement Group at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2018, stipulating the company’s intention to locate production of flax harvesting machines and equipment used for primary processing of long-fibre flax at Vyazma Machine-Building Plant JSC. These plans will help fully cover the needs of the Smolensk Region in special-purpose machines, such as seeding machines, flaw pullers, flax harvesters, etc. As a result of the investment project implementation, it is expected to double the fibre-flax growing area within the region by 2025.

DEHONDT is currently specializing in engineering development and production of a full range of equipment used for cultivating and harvesting treated plant fibres as well as for long-fibre flax primary processing. The company manufactures a full range of state-of-the-art mobile flax harvesting equipment, which usage is supposed to boost the labour efficiency.
