Total Investments in the Eco-Resort Located at the Gagarin District Will Exceed 1 Billion Rubles

During the Fourth Regional Social and Economic Forum “Territory of Development” a cooperation agreement has been signed by Alexey Ostrovsky, Governor of the Smolensk Region, and Anton Bolshakov, Founder of KOVCHEG Trading Company.

The agreement is aimed at establishing an eco-resort called Vazuza Country Club in the Gagarin District and located on the shore of the Vazuza Reservoirs. Implementation of the project was started in 2014 and is to be finished until 2021. The total investments in the project will amount to more than 1 billion roubles.

At present the resort includes a hotel (which is expected to accommodate about 120 guests at the same time), a restaurant, conference halls for business meetings, universal recreation areas. In addition, the visitors of Vazuza Country Club can enjoy a SPA-centre, a mini zoo, as well as quadricycle, bicycle and motor boat rental centres.

The resort will host guests the year round, the fans of winter sports are offered a skating and ice-hockey rink, skiing pistes. Besides, a holiday village will appear around the eco-resort with a total area of 20 ha.

Worth mentioning is the fact that these measures will contribute to increasing the number of tourist infrastructure facilities within the region, as well as to promoting domestic and inbound tourism.
