The Fourth Regional Social and Economic Forum “Territory of Development” Will Be Held in Smolensk

The fourth regional forum called Territory of Development and devoted to the regional social and economic development will take place on November 21 in Smolensk. A plenary session on Developing Investment and Business Environment of the Smolensk Region: Achievements, Challenges, Prospects will become the central event of the first day of the forum.

The forum is aimed at facilitating a productive dialogue of the authorities, society and business community in order to join collaborative efforts and develop economic potential of the region. Large enterprises, representatives of federal and regional authorities, leaders of major business communities and social organizations are invited to the forum. Alexey Ostrovsky, Governor of the Smolensk Region, and Svetlana Chupsheva, CEO of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives to Promote New Projects, are also expected to take part in the event.

It should be recalled that for the last three years the Smolensk Region has made a real breakthrough, having faced a fierce competition, and moved 49 positions up the list in the Russian Regional Investment Climate Index. Now it has reached the 31st position (of 85 in total), thus demonstrating strong efforts made by the Administration of the Smolensk Region, that has always given its highest priority to building a productive dialogue with the business community.

This year the forum’s agenda will include the following items: prospects for the regional development, measures to support business initiatives, and ways to find viable avenues of foreign investment. The program includes a plenary session, a conference on Export Potential of the Smolensk Business: New Opportunities for Foreign Trade Operators, some workshops, trainings and so on.
