Smolensk poultry farm "Smetanino" actively participates in the federal project "Labor Productivity", which is an integral part of the national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy".
Having completed the initial stage – "Diagnostics and planning" – the company demonstrates impressive results in implementing the principles of lean manufacturing. In this process, the poultry farm is provided with comprehensive methodological support by the Regional Competence Center (RCC) in the field of labor productivity in the Smolensk region. The results of three months of intensive work were presented to the company's management and were highly appreciated.
The success was made possible thanks to the close cooperation of the working group, formed from factory employees, and RCC consultants. Staff training has become a key issue. Employees, including both members of the working group and ordinary employees, have completed intensive courses on lean manufacturing tools. They have mastered the methods of identifying losses, in–depth analysis of problems and determining the root causes of their occurrence - this is the fundamental knowledge necessary for successful optimization of the production process.
As part of the diagnosis of the production flow of edible chicken eggs, reserves for increasing labor productivity were identified. Based on the analysis, a detailed action plan was drawn up aimed at eliminating identified bottlenecks and improving work efficiency.
Major improvements have already been implemented at the initial stage. Logistics processes have undergone significant changes: product transportation routes have been significantly optimized, which has reduced the time and cost of transporting eggs within the enterprise. Rationalization of the placement of equipment in the egg collection, sorting and packaging workshop has led to an improvement in the organization of the workspace and increased staff efficiency.
Moreover, effective measures have been taken to reduce unplanned equipment downtime. A thorough analysis has identified the main causes of these downtime, and measures have been developed and implemented to address them. As a result, it was possible to significantly reduce downtime and increase the total volume of products.
There is also an improvement in inventory turnover rates. By optimizing processes, it was possible to accelerate inventory turnover, which improved the financial performance of the company and reduced the likelihood of defects.
The Smetanino team has an ambitious task ahead of them – the implementation of about 30 blocks of improvement measures. This is a comprehensive plan aimed at achieving the target state of the product flow, and involves further improvement of all stages of the production cycle, from egg production to packaging and shipment.
