Within the framework of XVIII Russian Investment Forum a cooperation agreement has been signed between the Administration of the Smolensk Region and the company Monolitstroy-Plyus which suggests the construction of a Leroy Merlin store in Smolensk. The company Leroy Merlin signed a contract with Monolitstroy-Plyus LLC for construction and assembly works.
It is planned that the first store of a French retailer will appear in the Smolensk Region; the company deals with selling DIY products used for building, home decoration and improvement, as well as garden supplies. Today, Leroy Merlin has taken the lead in the global construction supplies market; the company currently has over 70 stores in Russia now. The French retailer also promotes cooperation with the local suppliers and manufactures. This support offers the regional business a great opportunity for development and sales growth.
The area of the shopping center is 13 thousand m2, 8 thousand m2 of which is a retail space, 8 thousand m2 — a warehouse. The shopping center building includes a retail space, storage premises, a sawing area, an office space, a staff canteen, a meeting room, a training room, a pick-up point, cleaning room and other amenity space.
Range of goods will be presented in five areas: house, interior, construction materials, renovation and garden.
Strategic groups of goods and materials are the following: coating materials, wallpaper, room and entrance doors, ceramic tiles, laminate, parquet and parquet board, linoleum, sanitary ware, kitchen furniture and utensils, gardening tools.
At the moment, the shopping center building is completely constructed. The construction of external and internal engineering networks has been completed. Delivery and display of goods, recruitment and training of staff is happening now. Around 190 people have already landed jobs there. The official store opening is planned in the fourth quarter of 2020.
