State-of-the-Art Equipment Has Been Designed for the New Unmanned Aerial Vehicle in Smolensk

The Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation has successfully tested a new unmanned combat air vehicle called ‘Okhotnik’ (‘Hunter’). Control centre and vehicle-borne equipment of the first unmanned strike aircraft were designed and produced by Izmeritel plant in Smolensk.

The Okhotnik has all-wing configuration and uses special materials and surfaces that make the air vehicle practically invisible for the spacetrack equipment. Besides, it is fitted with devices for electrooptical, electronic and other types of reconnaissance.

The first flight of the air vehicle lasted for over 20 minutes; an operator drove the Okhotnik to fly around the aerodrome several times at the height of nearly 600 metres and controlled its successful landing after that.

Starting from 2016 Izmeritel has been implementing an investment project on technical re-equipment and reconstruction of an assembly and testing production shops. This project provides for creating a modern assembly and testing production facility, needed for launching the next generation electronic equipment to satisfy the most exquisite demands of the state customers. The plant’s equity investments amounted to 500 million rubles in 2018; in 2019 the same investment volume is expected.
