For the First Time Investments in the Smolensk Region Will Exceed 60 Billion Rubles

This year, the amount of investments in the Smolensk Region will be more than 60 billion rubles. This was reported by Deputy Governor Rostislav Rovbel at the international research conference on the Engineering Industry of the Smolensk Region: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow, dedicated to the Engineering Workers’ Day.

The Department for Investment Development of the Smolensk Region reported that the greatest growth is expected due to investments in manufacturing (including chemical industry, production of rubber and plastic products, electrical equipment manufacturing, food industry), in electricity generation, in transport and logistics as well as in construction of distribution centers.

It should be recalled that the increase in fixed investments amounted to 21.5% for the first half of 2018 compared to the same period last year. In this regard the Smolensk Region ranked third among other regions of the Central Federal District after the Tula and Moscow Regions and became 19th in Russia. In the first half of 2018 the share of private investment was 85%, which was 3% more than in the first half of 2017 and 15% more than in 2012. This indicator shows the continuing upward trend for business investments.
