A Fish Farm for Trout Cultivation Will Appear in the Smolensk Region

An agreement on construction of a fish farm with the potential of annual breeding one thousand tons of commercial trout has been signed by Governor Alexey Ostrovsky and CEO of Galaktika-O LLC Marina Olina at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

It is worth mentioning that Galaktika-O specializes in design and construction of farms for river and seawater fish husbandry, as well as in manufacturing and delivery of fish breeding facilities to aquaculture enterprises, and also in selling juvenile trout for seeding.

The investment project is to be implemented in Roslavl and Velizh Districts by 2021. Thus, the agreement provides for the construction of a fish processing plant and cage facilities in the Roslavl District, while a number of fish breeding cage lines will be installed in the Velizh District.

Giving an estimate to the degree of collaboration with the Administration of the Smolensk Region, CEO of Galaktika-O LLC Marina Olina emphasized as follows: “The Regional Administration Office is ready to provide assistance in resolving any kind of issues, and that is what I would like to express my sincere gratitude for. We are sure to find a way to tackle the problems arising and achieve the goals set in cooperation with each other. We do feel at ease while working in the Smolensk Region and are able to succeed in developing fish breeding business. Our company will deal with trout and sturgeon incubation. Construction of a fish farm has already been started.”

In the course of the agreement signing it was pointed out that construction of this fish farm would help provide the region with its own fish products. The total amount of investments is expected to be as large as 450 mln. roubles. The social benefit implies creation of more than 40 new jobs.
