The Car Service Center of MAN German Concern Has Been Opened in the Kardymovo District. The Volume of Investments Amounts to 400 Million Roubles

Governor of the Smolensk Region Alexey Ostrovsky checked up on the progress of investment project on construction of transport and logistics hub of the Red Star company with motorway service facilities in the Kardymovo District and took part in the opening of the service center for MAN vehicles repair and maintenance.

It should be recalled that Red Star is a part of the Green Line group of companies, which carries out activities to provide freight and expeditionary services in Russia, Europe and CIS countries. The group of companies also includes Green Oil gas station network, and VOLVO/RENAULT and MAN authorized service stations in Smolensk. To date, Red Star LLC serves as the MAZ dealership. The company is constantly updating vehicle park. For example, last September there has been concluded a contract for supply of 500 new Volvo haul trucks and 500 new MAN haul trucks.

The investment project on the construction of a transport and logistics hub with motorway service facilities has been implementing since 2015, when the investor was granted land plots with a total area of more than 20 hectares for rent. To date, the following have been put into service: fuel filling station, truck parking lot (has a capacity of 600 trucks), storage facilities, motorway service facilities and MAN car service center with an administrative and amenity building. The total volume of investments for the above-mentioned events exceeded 750 million roubles, 400 million roubles of them were invested in the car service center`s construction. The social effect will involve 150 jobs.

The MAN car service center is a four-storied building (2,100 m2 of production facilities, 500 m2 of storage facilities and 1,800 m2 of office space) equipped with the most modern equipment and divided into several areas: repair, washing, as well as vehicles technical inspection area. There will be a full range of services for motorists engaged in, among other things, freight transportation. The car service center will be able to service about 15-20 vehicles at a time.

According to one of the Founders of the Green Line group of companies Vladimir Bolotnikov, the equipment of the complex meets not only Russian, but also all international standards, and the service center operation is fully automated.

"MAN" is a German automobile concern, and it applies very strict requirements to its representatives and dealers. This, among other things, applies to waste removal - I am talking about tyres, motor oils, filters. Representatives of the group very carefully monitored all construction stages, controlled the whole process. And now vehicles from a number of European Union countries (Germany, Poland, Lithuania) come to us for repair”, told Vladimir Bolotnikov.

Governor Alexey Ostrovsky noted that transport and logistics are identified as one of the key sectors with the greatest potential for development and attraction of investments into the Smolensk Region. Regional authorities are progressively developing these industries. For example, since last year there are plans to grant benefits to the transport tax payers engaged in international road transportation of goods, as well as to reduce the tax by 13% for companies having more than 1,000 vehicles on the balance sheet.

I am glad that all the agreements reached with investors at the initial stage of the project have been successfully implemented. I am pleased that the necessary support of the Administration of the region and the district authorities was provided quickly and effectively. We are ready to continue our contributions for the promotion of the next investment project stages, as well as other perspective development plans. I guarantee that our further collaboration will be equally successful and productive”, told Alexey Ostrovsky.
