New Modern Facility to Produce Wood Fuel Pellets Has Been Launched in the Smolensk Region

Production of environmentally friendly fuel pellets with a capacity to produce up to 100 tons of pellets per month has appeared in Elnya. Several supply agreements have been concluded with the local sawmill owners for providing the plant with wood waste, such as wood dust and log-slabs.

A new production line worth 5 mln. rubles and equipped with a full set of machinery for wood-fragmenting, drying, mixing, water treatment, pressing and packing has been installed. An investor from Moscow, which is a trading and industrial company called Bazis, is going to sell its products not only in the Russian market, but in the European ones as well, where these products are in high demand.

It was not by chance that we have chosen the Smolensk Region as the proper venue for producing fuel pellets. It was very important for us to be supported by the regional authorities for starting our business here. We could see for ourselves that this support is rendered at any level. Thanks to the assistance lent by Alexey Ostrovsky, Governor of the Smolensk Region, we were able to reconstruct the building, provided by the Administration of the Elnya District for implementing the project, as well as to install new equipment and launch production,” said Artyom Davydov, CEO of Bazis trading and industrial company.

Only 5 employees are currently working at the enterprise, but the total headcount will double shortly, and the enterprise expects to start operating in two shifts. Besides, the second line to produce wood fuel pellets has already been purchased by Bazis company for 2 mln rubles, which allows to increase the output in 2019 and reach 150 ths. tons of products per annum.

It should be recalled that in 2018 the Export Support Centre of the Smolensk Region has facilitated participation of Bazis company in a business mission to the Slovak Matchmaking Fair in Bratislava.
